    I add coloring to artwork and use a special oil paint with my design. This oil paint is absorbed by the hide so it will last over time. And it's waterproof.

Introduction to the art of Nang Talung

Shadow play or shadow puppetry is an ancient form of storytelling and entertainment using opaque, often articulated figures in front of an illuminated backdrop to create the illusion of moving images. It is popular in various cultures.

Shadow theatre in Thailand is called “Nang Yai” in the south part of Thailand there is a tradition called “Nang Talung”.  Nang Talung puppets are normally made ofbuffalo leather. Performances are normally accompanied by a combination of songs and chants.
